Jose Carranza arrested in execution style murder of Terrance Aeriel, Dashon Harvey, and Iofemi Hightower!

jCNN is reporting that two people have been arrested in this very sad story! I hadn't heard about it until I came home from work today, but it really got me thinking about how messed up people can be. I don't understand and frankly, don't want to even try. I hope they find the others connected in the murders!


"NEWARK, New Jersey (CNN) -- Two people, including a 15-year-old boy, are in custody in connection with the execution-style slayings of three college students in a Newark, New Jersey, schoolyard, authorities said.

Jose Carranza, 28, of Newark, New Jersey, surrendered in the slayings of three college students.

The suspect insisted on surrendering to the mayor after learning he was wanted for murder.

"He simply came forward. He said nothing," recalled Booker, who rushed from a news conference to meet the lawyer, Felix Lopez Montalvo, for the surrender. Watch Booker describe the surrender »

"We put him in handcuffs and we walked the individual into the office. I personally helped the detective to sit him down and I left," the mayor added.

The teenager was taken into custody at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

Booker said others are being sought. "We have very, very strong leads," he told reporters. "I want the killers off the streets of Newark."

Ballistics evidence, information from the shooting's lone survivor and a fingerprint lifted from a beer bottle at the scene led to the major break in a criminal case that has outraged a city numbed by street violence.

At a news conference earlier Thursday, Booker praised the "incredible courage" of survivor Natasha Aeriel, 19. She is in stable condition and under heavy police guard at The University Hospital in Newark, recovering from gunshot and knife wounds.

"From her hospital bed, she has been cooperating with authorities and making identifications," Booker said.

Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy and Essex County Prosecutor Paula Dow asked for the public's help in the rapidly developing case. A $150,000 reward is being offered for information.

An arrest warrant had sought Carranza's arrest for three counts of murder, a single count of attempted murder, four counts of robbery, conspiracy and weapons offenses.

"We believe that others were involved in this heinous crime. We are looking for them," Dow said.

The 15-year-old was not identified because of his age, but Dow said she would seek to try him as an adult.

Newark has become accustomed to violence but the slayings on Saturday night touched a nerve.

The four friends, ages 18 to 20, were shot while listening to music at the schoolyard.

Three of them -- Terrance Aeriel, 18, Dashon Harvey, 20; and Iofemi Hightower, 20 -- were forced to kneel against a wall and were shot in the head, execution style.

Authorities have said robbery appeared to be the motive, but Dow said Tuesday that police also were looking into possible gang involvement.

James Harvey, Dashon's father, described his son Monday as "a good, good student, college student."

"For him to be killed on the streets of Newark needlessly is very unacceptable," he said at a news conference.

"They're out here hurting innocent kids," he added. "Innocent people are dying needlessly, unnecessarily and for what? For what? This has to stop."

"CHESHIRE, Connecticut (AP) -- At least two men broke into a prominent doctor's home early Monday, kidnapped a female family member to withdraw money from a bank and then killed his wife and their two daughters, police said.


Dr. William Petit Jr., who was severely injured, told police his family had been held hostage for hours before one member, who was not identified, was taken to the bank with a suspect.

Bank employees were suspicious of the transaction and called police, who surrounded Petit's home, authorities said.

A town police officer saw two men leaving the home as it was engulfed in flames, authorities said. The men sped away in a station wagon, striking several police cruisers before they were captured.

Petit's wife, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, and their two daughters, Hayley and Michaela, were found dead in the home, said a law enforcement official with firsthand knowledge of the investigation.

The official confirmed the deaths on the condition of anonymity because autopsy results were still pending.

Authorities would not release the names of the suspects. The two men are due Tuesday in Meriden Superior Court.

Petit, 50, a well-known diabetes specialist, was in stable condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, though it was not released how he was injured.

"It is a shocking day for everyone. It's just beyond anyone's understanding," said Larry Tanner, president and chief executive officer of The Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Petit is the medical director of the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. His wife of 22 years worked at the Cheshire Academy, a boarding school as co-director of its health center.

Their upper-middle class neighborhood includes Colonial homes with well-kept lawns in the New Haven suburb.

Neighbor Walter Ryan was walking his dog when he saw the flames coming from the home and then watched as police, with guns drawn, moved through yards and shouted, "'Get out of the car!"'

The Rev. Ronald A. Rising, a neighbor, said he has known the family for more than 10 years.

"They're just a lovely family," he said. "It's just awful to think it would happen to a family like that in this community. You don't think about those things happening."

Neighbor Laura Parisi, a friend of the Petits' older daughter, Hayley, said the 17-year-old had just graduated from the prestigious Miss Porter's School in Farmington and was accepted at Dartmouth.

"It's just insane," Parisi said of the deaths. "I can't even describe it.""

Sniper David Munis shot and killed himself!

"LARAMIE, Wyo. - A military sharpshooter accused of killing his estranged wife as she sang at a bar died Tuesday night after being found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

Wyoming Army National Guardsman David Munis was found by a search team at about 7:45 p.m. after police received an anonymous call from a man who spotted Munis at a small camping trailer in a remote area about 15 miles north of Laramie and about five miles outside the search area, Albany County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Garcia said.

He had shot himself in the chest with a high-power rifle, Garcia said.

Munis, 36, was flown to a hospital and pronounced dead at 8:01 p.m., Garcia said.

“I’m glad it’s over,” the Laramie Boomerang quoted Garcia as saying. “The people in the community can now feel at rest, and the people in Roger’s Canyon can feel more at ease.”"

Truck Driver, Bruce Mendenhall, Arrested for shooting death of Sara Nicole Hulbert. May be serial killer!

CREEPY!!! I doubt many of you heard about the case involving Sara Nicole Hulbert, but it was really sad. She was found dead in the parking lot of a Nashville, Tennesse, truck stop.

Police say Bruce Mendenhall implicated himself as a serial killer, when they questioned him. Specifically "implicating himself in six slayings in four states after Detective Sgt. Pat Postiglione discovered what appeared to be blood inside the cab of his rig, police said."

Natalee Holloway body is found!?

So, the news was saying, "ALERT: Important information!" which always gets my hopes up.. come to find out it was only about some stupid story that was published in Aruba that said someone had a tip of where Natalee's body was, but Natalee's parents wouldn't pay the money to get the tip... something both her parents deny. I'm pretty sure if someone offered that, they would have taken the offer..

anyways, I got my hopes up for nothing! I still hold hope they will find her body, but we will see....

Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Mooney, found dead in Lefka region, Cyprus!

Well, the search is over, as they have seemed to find the U.S. Embassy's top military official in Cyprus has been found dead in what they are calling a "wooded area" just north of Nicosia.

They have been looking for Lt. Col. Thomas Mooney since June 28th, when he went missing.

They have not released much information, besides that they found Mooney's body, "We are waiting for additional information before making any official announcement," the official said.

I hope they find out who did this! :( I know most of you probably haven't read about this story much, as it hasn't been as big as some other stories circulating around lately. If you want to read more, click here!

Is this another case of steroids messing with people's minds and making them go mad? I am clearly not a huge wrestling fan, but this story is crazy! This type of story really reminds me that having all the money in the world can't buy happiness! I don't have much but I do have a loving husband, family, a steady job, and the Lord!.. and I am as happy as I could ever be! I don't need all the money and fame... I mean, look at how it ended up here.. someone who looks like they have everything anyone could want, and bang.. it's over just like that... and for what? Very sad!
