Jenna Bush, President George Bush's daughter, is getting married / engaged!

Oh my gosh, can you believe it? Jenna Bush is getting married, this has to be breaking news! haha.. just kidding, but here it is for those of you interested...

(CNN) -- "Jenna Bush, President and Laura Bush's daughter, is engaged, the White House said Thursday.

Henry Hager and Jenna Bush, pictured in May 2006, got engaged Wednesday.

His father, John Hager, is the chairman of the Virginia Republican Party.

"President and Mrs. George W. Bush are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Bush, to Mr. Henry Hager, son of the Honorable and Mrs. John H. Hager of Richmond, Virginia," press secretary Sally McDonough said in a statement.

Hager proposed in Maine on Wednesday, according to the first lady's office. He is returning to the University of Virginia in the fall, where he is getting his master's degree in business. He went to Wake Forest University for his undergraduate studies, The Associated Press reported.

The couple have been dating for nearly two years, according to The Washington Post.

When asked if they would marry in the Rose Garden, McDonough said: "They have not set any details, date or place," AP reported.

The last White House wedding was on June 12, 1971, when Tricia Nixon was married.

Seven other daughters have had White House weddings: Maria Monroe (1820), Elizabeth Tyler (1842), Nellie Grant (1874), Alice Roosevelt (1906), Jessie Wilson (1913), Eleanor Wilson (1914) and Lynda Bird Johnson (1967).

Lucy Johnson Nugent was married while her father was in office, but the ceremony took place at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

There was a White House wedding in 1994, but it didn't involve a president's child. Hillary Clinton's brother, Tony Rodham, married Nicole Boxer in the Rose Garden.

Only one son was married in the White House -- John Adams, son of President and Mrs. John Quincy Adams (1828)."

Karl Rove, President Bush's senior political adviser, steps down - quits!!!

CNN story:

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Karl Rove, President Bush's senior political adviser, will voluntarily step down from his White House post at the end of the month, senior administration officials said Monday.

Karl Rove was dubbed by President Bush as "the architect."

"Obviously it's a big loss to us, said deputy White House press secretary Dana Perino. "He is a great colleague, good friend and a brilliant mind."

Perino said Rove "wouldn't be going if he wasn't sure this is the right time to be giving more time to his family."

The president and Rove are expected to speak before boarding Marine One at the White House at 11:35 a.m. ET. Bush will head to his Crawford, Texas, ranch where he will remain for the rest of the week.

Rove, who has held a top position in the White House since Bush took office in January 2001, is to stand down on August 31. Video Watch why the announcement is so significant »

"I just think it's time," Rove told the Wall Street Journal. "There's always something that can keep you here, and as much as I'd like to be here, I've got to do this for the sake of my family."

He denied that his departure is designed to avoid Congressional scrutiny as the Democratically controlled Congress tries to force White House staffers to testify in the case of several fired U.S. attorneys.

"I know they'll say that," Rove told the Wall Street Journal, "But I'm not going to stay or leave based on whether it pleases the mob."

Both Rove and Scott Jennings, who is a special assistant to the president and deputy political director, were subpoenaed by the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is investigating the fired attorneys case.

Rove did not appear to testify earlier this month, which angered panel Chairman Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont.

The author of Monday's newspaper piece, Paul Gigot, said Rove "knows he'll continue to be a target, even from afar," because of widespread belief that his influence extends into every aspect of White House decision making.

Bush nicknamed Rove "the architect" for creating the plan that won the White House in 2000 and 2004.

"I'm a myth. There's the Mark of Rove," he told Gigot. "I read about some of the things I'm supposed to have done, and I have to try not to laugh." Gigot writes that Rove believes "the real target is Mr. Bush, whom many Democrats have never accepted as a legitimate president and 'never will.'"

Rove told the newspaper that he would leave Washington to return to Texas and that he had first suggested the idea of leaving a year ago.

However a series of problems for the Bush administration, starting when the Democrats took control of Congress and then as immigration and the Iraq war topped the agenda, made the enormously powerful Rove stay on.

But one of Bush's most trusted advisers claimed his hand was forced when White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten announced that any senior staff working past Labor Day [September 3] would be expected to stay on until the end of Bush's term in January 2007.

A Bush loyalist to the end Rove, who instrumental in all aspects of the executive conservative agenda, told the Wall Street Journal that he expected the president's approval ratings to rise and that conditions in Iraq would improve due to the work of the U.S. military.

Rove also took the opportunity to fire a parting shot at the Democrats, adding that he thought Hillary Clinton -- a "tough, tenacious, fatally flawed candidate" -- would win the 2008 presidential nomination.

Loved by conservatives but a hate figure for many Democrats, Rove said he expected his rival party to be divided over the wireless wiretapping issue while the Republicans should come out top in economic issues closer to the 2008 poll."

President George W Bush's colon is in the news?

I just thought this story was funny. Not funny that President Bush had polyps that could have been cancerous, but that the media would put it in the news. I know when you take office you can expect to have your life displayed like an open book, but come on! I would be really embarrassed!

Here is the full story for those who want to read it:

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Doctors removed five small polyps from President Bush's colon on Saturday, and "none appeared worrisome," a White House spokesman said.

President Bush and Chief of Staff Josh Bolten walk at Camp David, Maryland, on Saturday.

The polyps were removed and sent to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, for routine microscopic examination, spokesman Scott Stanzel said. Results are expected in two to three days.

All were small, less than a centimeter [half an inch] in diameter, he said.

Bush is in good humor, Stanzel said, and will resume his activities at Camp David.

During the procedure Vice President Dick Cheney assumed presidential power. Bush reclaimed presidential power at 9:21 a.m. after about two hours.

Doctors used "monitored anesthesia care," Stanzel said, so the president was asleep, but not as deeply unconscious as with a true general anesthetic.

He spoke to first lady Laura Bush -- who is in Midland, Texas, celebrating her mother's birthday -- before and after the procedure, Stanzel said.

Afterward, the president played with his Scottish terriers, Barney and Miss Beazley, Stanzel said. He planned to have lunch at Camp David and have briefings with National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten, and planned to take a bicycle ride Saturday afternoon.

MayoClinic.com: Colon polyps
Cheney, meanwhile, spent the morning at his home on Maryland's eastern shore, reading and playing with his dogs, Stanzel said. Nothing occurred that required him to take official action as president before Bush reclaimed presidential power.

The procedure was supervised by Dr. Richard Tubb, Bush's physician, and conducted by a multidisciplinary team from the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, the White House said.

Bush's last colonoscopy was in June 2002, and no abnormalities were found, White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

The president's doctor had recommended a repeat procedure in about five years.

A colonoscopy is the most sensitive test for colon cancer, rectal cancer and polyps, small clumps of cells that can become cancerous, according to the Mayo Clinic. Small polyps may be removed during the procedure.

Snow said on Friday that Bush had polyps removed during colonoscopies before becoming president."

Former President Bill Clinton.. saying one thing and doing another!

haha, I seriously laughed when I read this. After Bill Clinton caused outrage in his last week of office, by signing 141 pardons in his last few days in office (part of 211 of them in his final 9 weeks of office), he has the guts to come out and bash President Bush for pardoning Lewis Scooter Libby!..haha.. Libby will still have to pay 250,000 dollars and 2 years probation, and will hurt his reputation a lot more than Bill's ever was for doing the same thing...

Does Commute of Lewis "Scooter" Libby bring suspicion on President George Bush?

I personally don't think so. Presidents do this type of thing, but it is far fetched to say that President Bush is apart of the plot, just because he did this for Lewis "Scooter" Libby. I mean, it was pretty harsh considering many of the allegations were never even brought up before the jury. Just LET IT GO!

President George Bush Commutes Lewis "Scooter" Libby's Prison Sentence!

Instead of Pardoning Lewis Scooter Libby, President Bush Commutes his sentence, saying that this is an alternative to Pardoning him and it still leaves "harsh" punishment in place.

This was pretty surprising to me. I figured Libby would be pardoned by the President. I think this was a good move by Bush, as Libby should not get off for what he did. He should have to face the consequenses of his actions, just like everyone else... AKA PARIS HILTON for example..hahaha..
