Interview With Dirk Nowitzki
So, I was excited to go to ESPN.com today and see Dirks photo on the main page. I was excited because it means that the NBA season is just around the corner. I know that the NFL is just starting it's season, but nothing compares to basketball season, in my opinion.
It also means that my Mavs are back in the news, which is good considering the last time they were in the news it was for losing to the Warriors in the first round of the playoffs!!! I was glad to see that Dirk took some time off and cleared his head. It seems like he took off most of the summer and has now been working out and playing for the Germany team.. trying to get a spot in the Olympics next summer.
All of the "Dirk-Doubters" say that the last 2 seasons are getting to him and he is washed up... I don't know what they are talking about considering he was the most dominate player in the NBA this past season. He didn't score a lot in the playoffs, but come on, they triple teamed him and he found the open man... just happened to be that the open man (usually Terry) wasn't hitting any open shots.. But, you won't hear Dirk point any fingers except at himself. From the interview he had with Mark Stein, I don't think he is too worried about the Mavs, saying,
"We had trouble with one team, not 29. We still have a good team. I don't think it's time to panic because we had trouble with one team over three years. To win 67 games was very, very special. We just met a hot team. I don't want to think that everything we're doing in Dallas is wrong because we lost to one hot team. I still believe we have some great pieces, with a great coach and a great owner and a great organization that will hopefully win it all one day."
I think the Mavs will be just fine!
