The pay isn't very good, especially for having a masters, but at the end of the day, it's okay because I love it so much! I love the feeling when you realize you actually are making a difference!

Baby Supplies!

Well, we hope to have a baby in our house at some point, so we are always looking for new places to buy baby stuff and for good deals, like on uppa baby vista products or others that are having great deals! It is so much fun to have a baby around and you often forget it until you are around them again. We would love to have 3 or 4 more kids! Just hope I get a raise in there at some point to help support the family we hope to have!

New Printer!

We got a new printer and wow do we love it! The boys and my wife have been printing non-stop since we got it. It does so many crafts, has applications for learning projects for homeschooling and can do fun things like scan, copy, plastic card printing, almost anything you could want! The boys know how to go up to it and pick the application they want, and print it right out! We are going through ink a bit quickly but it is so much fun and educational!

Staying Trendy!

The price of staying trendy is high! Clothes are so expensive now and it is almost impossible, unless you are loaded, to shop at places like AE, Pacsun or Abercrombie! There are some places that have reasonably priced clothes if you look hard and can find some good deals out there where prices beat pacsun flannel clothing, pants, etc. But it isn't easy anymore since so many stores have outrageous prices!

Fun Things I've Never Done

There are so many fun things that I have never done before. I would love to skydive someday and to ride in a helicopter! I think it would be fun to go sieving and hunting for gold. It would be fun to cave dive (but not like in that new movie Sanctum!) and to snorkel with my wife! So many fun things to do that we will have to keep adding to our bucket list!

Tonight is going to be fun! We get to go to the basketball game because my work gave us free tickets! And before the game we get to have free food and hang out with other people i work with on campus! The boys are super excited about seeing the basketball game and getting skittles (it's a staple when we go to games). I love to see their joy when we do fun things. It totally lights up my life and makes me smile! I love them so much!

When our oldest son was weening from the pacifier one thing we got him as a gift was a yoyo. He got really good at it and now wants to get a better one, maybe an upgrade like a protostar yoyo or something. He will probably never play with anything else if we do get one though because he carries his first one around with him everywhere!

Updated the Boys Room

It was a lot of fun updating the boys room. We got new carpet and bought them bunk beds. They love them and even sleep together on the top bunk during nap time. It is their bed and also their ship when playing! We also got them a chair that hangs from the ceiling and to top it off we got one of those unique switch plates that is sports themed. They love turning on the light now and love to spend time in their room playing, reading, sleeping! The carpet is so comfy too!

Foster Class Update

The classes are still going well and we are getting to know everyone in our class. So neat to learn the different reasons everyone is taking them. Some are because they are grandparents trying to adopt their grandchildren. Some are because they are unable to have children themselves. Some are there because they are retired and have no children at home and simply want to fill a need in our world. it has been neat getting to know each of their hearts and so cool to see so many people who want to help all these children who really need a good home and parents to love them!

Winter Brings Challenges

Every winter we hear about deaths due to it being icy or poor conditions. We hadn't heard anything like that this winter since it has been so mild, until the first storm when we heard there were 3 deaths due to the conditions. We talk about how it is probably harder to get help to those in need and for road trip medical assistance to get out to them. The snow is beautiful but can definitely cause some challenges as well.

Constant Noise

Before we had kids, we always slept in silence. Then we had kids and that all changed. We lived in a dorm that was really noisy and prevented our son from falling asleep. So we got a white noise machine and everything was great! We haven't stopped using white noise machine ever since! In fact, I'm not sure if I could fall asleep without one anymore!

Mild Winter

It would be an understatement to say we have had a mild winter! We have only had it snow 2 times and the next 4 days are supposed to be in the 40s and 50s, so the little snow we have will likely all melt. WOW! I have to say that I am really happy but my son is a little sad. I guess we have had no way to ski this year and the skis will just keep sitting on the ski racks.

Thinking Back

When I used to work in Texas, I was close to a medical area of the city, where everyone was always wearing scrubs. I used to wonder where they would actually buy them as I had never seen a store for them before, and many people had very unique stops or bottoms. I have seen cherokee workwear scrubs that are really nice. I haven't had to ever wear scrubs before but they do look comfy!

They look so different from last year and are somehow still winning! Dirk has been hurt, kidd has been awful and hurt, but somehow they find ways to win. Losing Tyson hurt a lot but they have actually improved significantly on defense so far without him. The additions of Vince Carter, Odom and West have helped our depth and Roddy is playing great as well! Once we get everyone healthy and playing together for a while, I think this team can be really scary come playoff time! GO MAVS!

Stressful Water Week

Last week was a bit stressful as we had our water pump freeze up two different times. We are still fairly new to farm living and we didn't have this issue last winter. When it happened the first time, I was in the shower and the water just stopped. I was so scared the pump had broken, which would cost a lot of money! Thankfully it was just frozen and I was able to get it unfrozen by putting a space heater down in the well, and afterwards I insulated and put hay on top of the well.

Morale for Soldiers

I was just thinking back to when my father-in-law's church would put together little packets to send to soldiers. It would have essentials in there as well as just things soldiers said they wish they had. I'm not a smoker but arturo fuente cigars were often sent to boost the morale of the soldiers. It was fun to hear back from them about how these packages meant so much to them and actually brightened their day!

Wow, is this kid fun to watch! I have been watching youtube videos of him since he was like 14 but to see him play in the NBA is amazing! The passes he makes remind me of a young nash and kidd. He is already among the league leaders in steals, rebounds (for PGs), assists and FT%. I can't wait to see him play for the next 10-15 years!!! And he plays close to us so we can see most of his games on TV!

Updating our Porch

We love updating our home and making it more 'ours.' We recently updated our office/toy room and the boys bedroom. Now it is time to move onto the porch! We would love to get some new outdoor furniture to put out there as well as some new decorations. we have a very nice table that was given to us so we wouldn't need much more to complete a new look! Should be fun!

4 weeks in and 6 to go. I can't believe how fast they are going! It is a lot of work but we are learning a lot, which is good! I can't believe what some children have to go through, so sad. We truly have a heart for all of them and wish we could just bring all the kids home with us that need a good home! It is also nice that we have friends in the class with us, so we can bounce things off of each other after each session.

My wife and I are always talking about how we want to start our kids in guitar lessons when they are fairly young. We feel it is such a neat skill to have. When thinking about the best guitars out there one immediately thinks of washburn guitars. They have a 120 year history and have impacted the music industry greatly! I can only think of a few brands I would consider and washburn is definitely one of them. I don't think anyone can go wrong with picking washburn over all the other guitars out there. I'm excited to go shopping!

It is getting to be that time of year. The time when you definitely want to wear warm clothes in Iowa. I can't believe we don't have snow yet but it is definitely cold. Around this time of year we start to see all the ugg boots come out of the closets. I don't know much about them but they are sure popular and everyone seems to rave about how warm and well made they are. I am going to have to research them more and think about getting some as gifts!

If you are like us, there are usually a few presents we forget to get by the time Christmas rolls around. So, it is great that some companies have already released coupons, like bath & body works coupons 2012. I am bound to find other stores that are doing similar things and offering great deals for the new year. We do love shopping at Bath & Body Works and use many of their products to help our house smell amazing! Since I am off of work for 2 more weeks, I hope we can get some more shopping done!

It is so hard to shop for your kids when they are oddly shaped! For example, our oldest son has small but very wide feet! It is nearly impossible to find shoes that fit him! We have found some wide shoes that fit him really well but it is not very often that we hit the jack pot like that. At least he is really small for his age and we don't have to shop for new ones many times each year. It is almost like a challenge each time we got out shopping for him.

There are so many different companies selling so many different beauty products! How does one navigate everything there is to offer out there and then make the right choice? How can you even be an informed consumer? I find it difficult but recently we did find some of the best eyelash growth products we have seen. We read about options and were actually impressed. I would recommend others look into products and see what they think!

So relaxing to have 12 days off of work! We get to spend time with family and celebrate the true meaning of this wonderful season! Christ being born! How awesome! We are loving this so much! Furniture

We have been updating our house furniture, carpet and some paint. We got our kids room done and will be working on other rooms next. It makes our home more exciting and feels like new again. We got new bunk beds for the boys room and have looked at cute rustic bedding for their blankets and stuff. I can't wait until it's all done and we can enjoy it all. It is a lot of work but it is a lot of fun!!!

Job Search

I work with so many students who have no idea what they want to do after college. I also work with others that do have an idea but don't want to stay in school so long, can't afford it, or just have trouble finding a good job. I have seemed to be seeing more and more students interested in the medical fields. I hear there are Physician Assistant Jobs out there if you look carefully and have the correct schooling. I definitely help students find these careers and start on the correct path.

I got a lot of great gifts yesterday but the sweetest present I got was a watch. Kind of like one of those bulova watches. It is so nice and was very reasonable (or so my mom told me). Birthdays and other holidays all fall around the same time for our family. It is an exciting and expensive time for our family. Laptop troubles

So, my brother was recently the victim of internet fraud. He sold a computer online and delivered the item. The person sent the money but then took it back somehow. Instantly lost one thousand dollars. Ouch. I am looking at reconditioned laptops and really hope I don't run into similar issues. I figure if I get it from a really well respected place then I should be okay. I can't wait to get a new computer! Mine is getting so old and freezing a lot!

Thankfully, I don't find myself in hospitals very often. But, when we were recently forced to go due to one of our children having strep-throat, I was amazed at all of the technology and efficient things they use now. They have their computers on little stands that can be rolled around the hospital, Howard Medical medicine carts and a bunch of other really neat things. There is a lot about our medical practices that I don't like, but all of these cool gadgets were really cool and I can imagine they help with efficiency a lot!

I logged onto http://www.ShopElectricityRatesTEXAS.com to get energy to our new lake house. It was one of the final things that I had to do before we get to officially move into our first vacation home. We are really excited about spending summers relaxing on the dock, swimming, and doing some water skiing. I also think that we are going to be spending a lot of time at the lake house during the cooler months. There is a great roaring wood burning fire place that keeps the house nice and cozy. There is just something relaxing about getting out of town and away from all of your normal obligations. I am thinking that we may even do Christmas Eve and New Years at the new lake house. Of course, that will depend on how quickly I can get everything decorated and put together at the house. We are just so excited and looking forward to spending time together, reading, and relaxing. Eventually, we are going to invite our friends, but only after we enjoy each other for a while.

So, I wasn't sure anyone used YouTube anymore until I got my new Apple TV. Then I found out it is an app on the device. If Apple is putting it on their products as an application, I figure people must still be using it a lot. Then I found that there are applications and programs that help you download from YouTube really smoothly and quickly. After finding out that people are still using it a lot, I spent about an hour on there looking up comedians last night while lying in bed. I need to get on there more often and check it out!

I love having my own office! Not just one that is in a cubical. So nice to have that privacy for work and not have to listen to all the voices in the lobby. We are also given very nice office supplies and allowed to pick what we want and need. Anything from scanner software to computers.

It is so nice when you love your job! I don't know what I will be doing in 10 years but I hope it's this!!! I couldn't ask for better co-workers and supervisor!! It is so great to be home... even though we have been back for almost 3 years already! ha

Well, it's that time of year! Lots of birthdays and Christmas presents to purchase! I am not good at shopping for gifts or sure what to get people. I try to get personalized keepsakes but I don't seem to do a great job of it. I usually end up just asking the person what they want and then getting them that gift. That way I know I am getting something they want and I know that they will like it. It does take some of the excitement out of them opening the gift, but I am not sure how else to do it. I suppose I could pick up hints better about what they want, but I usually just put off the gift buying until I have to go out last minute to get something. Ha!

Doing Well So Far...

Well, I am doing well in my Fantasy Football Leagues again this year. I won a couple last year and am getting lucky again. I have found it is all about who you pick up from the waiver wire or free agency that make a difference. Last year I snagged Michael Vick in a couple leagues and it ended up making the difference. This year I have picked up a couple sleepers who have helped me. Although, I wish I would have gotten Cam Newton. Someone else had a lower waiver wire priority and got him before I could. Dang!

I love the NFL, but I am very sad the NBA hasn't reached a deal yet! I hope there is a season and that the Mavericks can defend their championship! As much as I love other sports, there just isn't anything that compares to the NBA, in my opinion. I think they are losing fans by the minute though, with all the fighting back and forth and not reaching a deal. NO ONE feels sorry for the players or owners. They are all millionaires (or billionaires), so stop being greedy and make a deal!

Today will be nice. I have been out of my office for the past 3 days traveling. It will be nice to be in the office and just be able to get work done and spend time with my co-workers. I do love the traveling portion of my position but it is draining having to be in a car so much. It refreshes me to get back and take things slow for a bit before I head out on the next trip! Competition in the Office

So, no one in our office is very athletic, but that doesn't stop us from talking a little trash. Last year we were in a campus wide basketball tournament and did okay. The others in our office challenged us to a game and we even went as far as trying to create a trophy. You know, like a real one, like cheerleading trophies and other cool trophies you may have seen before. I just hope no one gets hurt out there on the court! ha

Farm Life

How much fun has the last year been? I can't believe it has been this long already! We have started so many projects and still have a lot left, but I am having a blast with all of them! I have borrowed so many tools so the next step is to start buying more tools. We need anything from abrasives to saws. We have gotten some but if we plan to do these kinds of projects all the time then we need to get some of our own tools. Winter is going to slow things down a bit but we will prepare for Spring!

Phones are so crazy now! I feel old talking about it but I remember not having a cell phone at all. Then I remember having a huge one with only a few minutes, used for emergencies only! Now, everyone has a cell phone and we are even getting rid of our land line since we have a cell phone already. And the amount of things the phones can do now?! WOW! I saw a new phone that is 3D capable. Weird! The new htc incredible s at the source is awesome too! Just so amazing what they are coming out with!

I LOVE my iPad! Not only me, but my whole family! When my family bought it for me as a gift they thought they wouldn't enjoy using it. In fact, they thought it was a waste of money!Now, I can barely get it from them because they are using it all the time. It has awesome kid apps, ipad accessories, and everything else you could think of! I sue it for work, fun, and the kids use it for learning. They are awesome!

One of our good friends used to be a worship team leader at a local church. After the position being wiped out and him being let go, he found a couple different jobs while he searched and worked on his masters! He mainly worked retail jobs to support his family and most recently was selling diamond engagement rings and all other kinds of jewelry at a store. He was very good at it but I know his heart was elsewhere. Then just the other day we found out he got a job as a worship team leader at a church down south! We are so happy for him and his family! What a week! we had family here from Philly! We had a blast!!! They stayed at our place a few days and then we all stayed at their parents house for a few days. We were moving non-stop and the kids went without naps for a week! Did the fair, stayed in a hotel a night, had a birthday party, etc. we had a blast!!!

I have never been very into jewelry but wow it is beautiful when you take the time to look at it closely and learn how it is made! It is no small operation to make Swarovski Crystal beads or any other kind of jewelry! No wonder it can cost so much! I am no longer going to complain when I have to pay a little more for jewelry after watching a show on how it is made! Wow is all I can say!!! I could not ever have the patience to sit and work on a ring or anything else that long!

We love to organize! You can imagine having 2 kids and no closets in your house that you have to get pretty good at organizing stuff! We have organized churches before by using siegel literature displays and other organization tools. We helped organize many people's offices and even helped friends who couldn't seem to organize their new home. To tell you the truth, I find it much more fun to clean and organize someone elses stuff than my own! So, if you need help, let us know!!!! For a small fee of course!

I know laptops don't last long, but give me a break! My computer is only a couple years old and already on the down hill! I am done spending over a thousand dollars for something that will only last a couple years. I am going to look at other options, like acer aspire laptops and other brands that are solid and more reasonably priced! I seriously have only had my computer for a couple years and you would guess it was from the 90's by how slow it is now!

I am not a big decorator, but I do love decorating the boys room!!! It is sports themed and they have a lot of my memorabilia hanging on the walls. I also went to a baseball gifts store and got some neat things, and even Hobby Lobby had cool stuff. We got rugs, hardware, lockers, and curtains to spice up the room and make it really feel sporty. The final touch was adding a vinyl quote on the wall about sports not building character but rather that sports reveal ones character. I want the boys to always remember that when they are involved in sports.

Time to stop junk fooding it up and start getting in shape. I have been thinking about starting to run, maybe even just around our property. I hate running but it would be worth it if it meant getting in shape! Maybe I should get a personal trainer or even better yet I could go to personal trainer school and become a personal training. That way I would have to stay in shape! Now that would be the kind of motivation I need! Hum, good idea! I may just have to look into that! Other wise, I guess I could just start eating healthier and get the right amount of rest!

The projects seem to be never ending when living on an acreage! But, I LOVE them! How exciting it is to get to do so many cool things and have the room to do them! Chickens? Come on, how cool is that?!?! The kids love it and so do we! I am going to need to upgrade my water hose though, as it gets used all the time! Maybe I'll have to invest in a braided metal hose or something! ha.. I never liked the thought of daily chores but they are actually not bad and pretty rewarding! I won't ever get tired of going out and finding eggs! Love it!

Summer Hair

Yup, we all know what that means.... flat, frizzy hair.... I have tried a million different hair products and have found some that work. My wife likes herstyler curlers and doing her hair all pretty, but it sure is hard in the summer weather. So humid and every time you step outside you feel like you need to shower again. On a high note, the summer sure is awesome when you want to be outside and working on your property! We have so many projects started and the kids love to be out side playing with the animals and helping mow. We have family coming this week which will be fun too! Just wish it lasted longer!

We have started to get nasty tom cats on our property. They beat the snot out of a couple of our cats and went after our kids a couple times. So, I took it upon myself to contact a friend and borrow their gun. I don't know what kind of scope it had on it, maybe a nikon rifle scope or something. I don't know my guns very well but it sure did the job!!! I felt bad at first but not once it came after the kids! I am bound and determined to keep my family safe! I am now a hunter, living on a farm!

Emry's new hobby!

So, Emry is starting to collect things... yup, coins! He's a smart kid too! He understands that each are worth a certain amount, although he doesn't really understand which is worth more than the other. When we go out I give him the money to had the clerk and he is always happy when he gets more coins back than what he gave the clerk. It makes him feel like he is getting more money back than what he initially gave. ha.. super cute! He knows the names pennies, dimes, nickles, quarters, etc. and even recognizes dollars. Maybe it is a little early for him to be learning about money? ha.. So fun to watch them grow up!

Rabbit toubles...

So, last month we caught a rabbit at the county fair. Then yesterday she started tearing out her hair... we found out she is pregnant... we haven't had her near any rabbits so it had to happen at the fair the DAY before we got her. go figure... So, my favorite sport, the NBA is still in lockout mode, but that is okay since it is still the off season. I also love the NFL and it is great to know we will have a full season to enjoy! I also heard rumblings that Brett Favre will be coming back. haha.. I can't believe that! I thought that would be over after last years injury plagued season. I love the Vikings but it is weird they went out and got McNabb. When will they stop getting old QBs? I guess he is young at 34 compared to Favre at 41! ha... hopefully he will be solid for us until Ponder develops.

Texas is great as long as you don’t live here. I really like the way people are so friendly here but that’s about it…well, I also like that Texas is deregulated (check it out texaselectricityproviders.com.) Anyway, the heat is absolutely stifling and if I have to eat another batch of barbeque I think I’m going to scream…I know I sound like I’m complaining but I’m so sick of Texas it’s no wonder I’m moving! I’ve been here since childhood and I can just do without all the big belt buckles and crazy hair spray and country accents. This summer has been filled with county and town fairs! e always like to go to them but this summer even more than most since we are actually working at them, trying to raise money for our adoption! We are always trying to be creative and think of neat things we can do to help preserve our family history/heritage! We have made family photo albums, cookbooks, and a bunch of other things. Whenever we are looking to do a big project, and need it, we look for document imaging companies that can help us out. Summer Camping!

I LOVE SUMMER! I have gotten so many projects started and completed! Right now I am working on finishing our garden and chicken coop. We have also started dreaming about an RV since we have room to store it on our property. For now, we will have to settle for rv loans if we wanted to get one. I don't see it happening in the near future, but maybe some day! How fun would that be to drive around with an RV and just camp under the stars? I would love it!

Honestly, is there anything good on TV during the day? I'm glad I am at work because it seems like only junk is on anyways. All these shows about babies daddies. Soon, they will have a paternity test while pregnant so mothers don't even have to wait until they give birth! Then the shows will have a whole new group of people they can add to their show! Kind of sad how many people are willing to share their business on national TV. Do they really think it will help their circumstances? You are probably confused by the title of this post. Well, let me explain. When we lived in Texas I was certain that we were fine using the different mapping sites online when planning trips. I didn't see any use for having a car gps system of any kind. Well, my spouse had different plans. For Christmas we got one and I have become addicted ever since! I have no idea how we lived without one! It is so much easier than printing directions! I should have known to listen to her from the beginning! NASCAR!

So, I went to a NASCAR race with my dad and brother a couple weeks ago. I still can't get over how fast they move! I am not a huge fan but watching it in person really impressive! I think those drivers are totally nuts! I wonder if they have to have high risk life insurance or what. The winner of the first race was only 16 years old, can you believe that? He just got his license and is driving race cars... and winning! WOW!

Well, the 4th of July was AMAZING! We spent time with family and friends. We also made some money for adoption too! We had an order of cookies for a birthday and two separate orders of cupcakes for birthdays! Then we painted faces and made balloon animals at one of the town gatherings for fire works last night! It was so much fun and the boys had a blast!!!! They were great marketers for us, by wearing their painted faces around and carrying balloon animals to show everyone. Once the lines started, they didn't end until the fireworks started! We can't wait for this coming weekend when we get to go to another town fair and do it again!!!! This week will be "catch-up-on-rest" week! ha

Well, summer sure is a popular time to have a wedding! I know that was the case for us and just about all of our friends. It is also the time to get invited to a million Wedding Showers. I enjoy opening up the mail box and seeing that I have Wedding Shower Invitations waiting for me to open! There are so many cute invites now and so many places to get them from! Heck, I recently had a friend send ones she made from scratch! Very creative people out there! So, with the 4th of July just over, it seems summers are filled with holidays, camping, town fairs, county fairs, farming eventures, weddings, and wedding showers! I can't even explain how great it is to be living out of town! I always knew we would love it but that doesn't even begin to do it justice! The feeling of coming home from work and being able to hang out with my family on our property is just to die for! It is so peaceful and so much room for the boys to run around and be boys! Last night we cut the dogs hair outside and watched out chickens play with our new rabbit, that the boys caught at the county fair! God has been so good to us! I can't imagine life any other way! How did we ever live in the dorms for 11 years? ha

Last fall we moved into our new home. We bought an acreage and are loving it! There was a lot to do when we first moved in. There was only a tv cables, so we needed to run tv cables. There was also so major things to be done. We moved the old bathroom and redid the entire room. It turned out nicely. We're glad we did it.
