BREAKING NEWS!!! Kevin Garnett TRADED to Boston Celtics!!!

I already wrote my brief thoughts on this possible trades, so I won't get into it here. However, I did read an interesting article that confirms that the trade is going to happen. WOW, I can't believe Kevin Garnett will be in green?!? KG, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce.. Pretty good core of guys there!

"BOSTON, July 30 (AP)-- Kevin Garnett is leaving Minnesota after the Boston Celtics agreed to acquire the All-Star forward in a multiplayer trade with the Timberwolves, a Celtics official told The Associated Press on Monday.

Among the players who could be headed to Minnesota are forward Al Jefferson, guard Sebastian Telfair, swingman Gerald Green and center Theo Ratliff, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been completed. The official also said the Timberwolves would get at least one draft choice.

The teams still had some things to clarify with the players' contracts, but the official said that would not keep the Celtics from acquiring Garnett, although there could be a change in the players ticketed for the Timberwolves.

There was a chance that a conference call announcing the trade would be held Monday, the official said.

Garnett, 31, has spent all of his 12 NBA seasons with Minnesota. He would get an extension of his contract, which has one year plus an option year remaining, the official said.

The Celtics had tried to get Garnett late last month, but his agent said he didn't want to go to Boston.

Since then, Boston acquired seven-time All-Star guard Ray Allen from Seattle in a draft day deal. Already with Paul Pierce, the Celtics would become instant contenders in the Atlantic Division with Garnett, even without promising forward Jefferson.

The Celtics obtained Allen and the 35th pick of the draft for guards Delonte West and Wally Szczerbiak, and forward Jeff Green of Georgetown, whom they drafted with the fifth pick.

The Celtics have won just three playoff series during Pierce's nine years with them. They still have an NBA-record 16 championships, but none since 1986.

"They have no excuses, this team out there,'' Danny Ainge, the executive director of basketball operations, said after Allen was acquired.

Pierce, 29, led the Celtics in scoring last season but played only 47 games because of injury.

Allen, who turns 32 next month, averaged a career-high 26.4 points last season, his 11th, but underwent surgery to remove bone spurs on both ankles that required him to wear protective boots. He is expected to be ready for training camp. "

Kevin Garnett being TRADED to BOSTON CELTICS!?!

Who else is saddened by the news that KG could be moving to Boston? On one side, I would be happy to see KG play with Pierce and Allen, as I think they would compliment each other greatly! But, on the other side, I can't bare to think of KG in another jersey. I know there are people on both sides of this story, and both sides have good arguments. I would love to hear some of your thoughts on this story! Please leave your comments:

"The Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics, who nearly completed a blockbuster Kevin Garnett trade before the June draft, have resurrected those trade talks and are again locked in serious discussions, according to NBA front-office sources.

Multiple sources told ESPN.com on Sunday night that former teammates Kevin McHale and Danny Ainge have revived discussions of a deal that would end Garnett's 12-season association with Minnesota by sending him to Ainge's Celtics, with the Wolves getting back two of the assets McHale coveted most last month: Al Jefferson and Theo Ratliff's expiring contract.

The deal depends on Garnett backing off his well-chronicled unwillingness to play in Boston. Yet sources indicated late Sunday that Garnett was warming to the idea, raising hopes on both sides that the deal will finally go through.

Garnett effectively blocked the Celtics' first attempt at trading for him by making it clear, through agent Andy Miller, that he would opt out of the final year of his contract (worth $23 million) and leave the Celtics in the summer of 2008. Had it gone through with that trade anyway, Boston would have potentially been parting with the blossoming Jefferson for a one-year Garnett rental.

But Garnett could now be amenable to the move, after the fiercely loyal 31-year-old learned how far along the Wolves were in negotiations with Boston in June and with the Celtics responding to the breakdown of its initial pursuit by trading the fifth overall pick in the draft to Seattle for All-Star shooting guard Ray Allen.

Expensive as it would be to employ a trio of All-Stars -- especially since Garnett is expected to demand a lucrative, luxury tax-triggering extension from his new team -- Celtics management is understandably optimistic about selling Garnett on the prospect of teaming with Allen and franchise mainstay Paul Pierce in an Eastern Conference for the taking. The Celtics would be expected to contend for an NBA Finals berth right away if the trade goes through, no matter what they put around that trio, after Cleveland advanced to the Finals in June with not even a clear-cut second star next to LeBron James.

Yet it remains to be seen, assuming that the Celtics secure Garnett's sign-off, what kind of package Boston can provide Minnesota now that the Celtics' No. 5 pick has been used by the SuperSonics to draft Georgetown's Jeff Green. The Wolves badly wanted that pick as part of their rebuilding plans.

It's believed that the latest incarnation of the deal would have Boston adding Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair and multiple future draft picks to Jefferson and Ratliff in exchange for Garnett. It's also likely that other players would have to be added to the deal, since the salary-cap math involved would require both teams to account for Garnett's $6.75 million trade kicker.

Miller could not be reached Sunday night to provide Garnett's up-to-date stance on Boston. When the first round of Wolves-Celtics talks were made public, Miller told ESPN.com: "If a trade [from Minnesota] were to happen, that's not a destination that we're interested in pursuing."

Garnett has said for years that he doesn't want to leave his beloved "Sota," as he calls it, and has consistently refused to push for a trade, even with the Wolves missing the playoffs in each of the past three seasons. But Boston's cause might be helped by the possibility that becoming a Celtic or returning to Minnesota after he was so vigorously shopped are Garnett's only options.

ESPN.com reported in June that Garnett would be hoping for a trade to the Phoenix Suns if he did have to leave the only team he has ever played for. His reasons, according to sources: Garnett would prefer to play in a warm-weather city on a team with championship potential if he's forced to relocate. Another big factor: Garnett and Steve Nash have become good friends over the past few years, starting in 2005 when Garnett was one of the first players in the league to call Nash and congratulate him on his first MVP trophy.

Phoenix, Golden State and the Los Angeles Lakers all joined Boston in making hard trade pushes for Garnett before the June 28 draft. Dallas also expressed serious interest despite its inability to realistically join the chase until after July 1, when the Mavericks could again manufacture at least one cap-friendly contract to offer the Wolves.

The Suns, though, have apparently dropped out of the bidding, unable to make a deal work financially and unwilling to part with Amare Stoudemire. Golden State's chances, meanwhile, took a hit when a potential three-team Garnett trade involving Charlotte collapsed on draft night, with the Warriors deciding they couldn't wait on a maybe and proceeding instead with the trade of Jason Richardson to the Bobcats.

Sources nonetheless insist that McHale has had the Celtics at the top of his list from the start, mainly because of his fondness for Jefferson and Minnesota's natural desire to move Garnett out of its conference. But some teams also believe that McHale's comfort level negotiating with Ainge was another key factor. The former Celtics colleagues remain close and frequently watched games together during the recent NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The Wolves made the determination near the end of the playoffs that they would seriously entertain the prospect of trading Garnett for the first time, according to team sources, with Garnett being informed of that change in philosophy directly by owner Glen Taylor.

Taylor announced in mid-July that the organization was no longer looking to move the NBA's 2004 MVP, telling the St. Paul Pioneer-Press that Garnett's "preference was that we not trade him." Yet just days earlier, one rival executive insisted to ESPN.com that he knew "for a fact" that Minnesota remained intent on trading Garnett before the 2007-08 season starts.

Garnett rejected the initial move to Boston even though it would have put him in the easier-to-conquer East and even though he is friendly with Pierce. But he was undeniably stung by the near-trade, sources said, which only increased his growing frustration with McHale and Taylor and left him bracing for a trade ever since.

"This would be a major trade that would affect a franchise and those in the organization, so you better be sure [he wants to be there long term]," Miller said last month after squashing the original trade."

Lindsay Lohan Arrested AGAIN on Drunk Driving DUI, and Cocaine!

I was flipping through the channels this evening and ran across Lindsay Lohan news... Go figure! The past few days have been filled with photos of her alcohol monitoring anklet and how well she is doing... and then this.........

It seems that someone called the police complaining about someone following her in a black SUV.. turns out that someone was Lindsay Lohan, and when cops stopper her, she was intoxicated and had cocaine on her person. Based on the charges she will be facing, she could get between 3 to 6 years in prison. Now, we all know she won't get that much, but 3 DUI's and 2 cocaine possessions within the past few months doesn't look good. And, if they wanted to make an example out of Paris Hilton, just think of what kind of example they will make out of Lindsay Lohan!

MSN has a good article on this story here!

Tim Donaghy rigged the Suns vs. Spurs game!

great article from Fox Sports!

"There aren't many dark days in the Valley of the Sun in mid-summer, but Friday must have been pretty gloomy.

Just when Phoenix Suns fans were moving through the acceptance phase of their grief over last year's unjust playoff exit comes another knee to the groin.

As if the playoff suspensions of Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw (in exchange for instigator Robery Horry) hadn't been a big enough miscarriage of justice, now comes news that NBA referee Tim Donaghy is under FBI investigation for betting on basketball. There are even allegations of mob ties.

While those charges have yet to be proven, there is very little debate among the basketball cognoscenti as to what was the most dubiously officiated game in this spring's playoffs. It was Game 3 of the Suns-Spurs Western Conference semifinals on May 12.

It was a bewildering carnival of bad calls, bad non-calls and egregiously late calls.

Who did that game? Eddie F. Rush, Greg Willard and Tim Donaghy.

The Suns' gut-wrenching six-game loss to the Spurs had already plunged their fans into the grief cycle, only then it was due largely to David Stern's failure to insert a measure of mitigating sanity to his zero-tolerance bench-leaving policy.

The pain played out like this:

Did Tim Duncan and the Spurs benefit from Tim Donaghy's questionable calls? (D. Clarke Evans / Getty Images)

# Denial — This can't be happening. Robert Horry didn't just hip-check Steve Nash into the scorer's table with the result being the suspensions of our only low-post scorer and best low-post passer. This cannot be happening.

# Anger — We hate you, David Stern! We'd like to see Charles Barkley throw you through a plate glass window at Dan Majerle's bar!

# Bargaining — Please, please, let us squeak out Game 5. Let the series go seven games. We'll forget all about the unjust suspensions.

# Depression — We lost. We're doomed. It's over. Our window of opportunity is closing. Nash is 33. That was our shot.

# Acceptance — We're down, but not out. We just signed Grant Hill. Stoudemire will be another year away from microfracture surgery. Leandro Barbosa is getting better by the minute.

And then whammo! It looks like the NBA has a dirty ref and he called a pivotal playoff game that the Suns lost. So, for beleaguered Suns fans, the stages of grieving begin anew.

# Denial — There is simply no way an official in a major American sport would do this. This isn't Italian soccer, dammit.

# Ref stats: What the numbers say

# Anger — Was Game 3 the game when Bruce Bowen essentially assaulted Nash from start to finish? Was Bowen really whistled for only two fouls? Did Nash really shoot only three free throws? Was that the game where the Suns were in the midst of a run-out when they were interrupted by a foul call so late it just had to be an inadvertent whistle?

# Bargaining — Okay. Please, Federal Bureau of Investigation, just tell us Donaghy hadn't bet on that game. Please just tell us that a pile of mob money didn't come down on the Spurs in Game 3.

# Depression — Ah, what's the difference? It's not like Stern is going to give us a do-over.

# Acceptance — Probably never.

First, Game 3 will have to be put under a microscope. Hard to believe it will look any better under a jeweler's loupe than it did on TV.

Off the top of my head, the worst non-call — after Bowen forced a turnover by chopping down on Nash's off hand as the point guard was crossing over — came right in front of Rush, not Donaghy.

One other critical officiating error was a whistle on a clean block by Stoudemire, who played only 21 minutes due to foul trouble.

And then there was the whistle delivered from Shangri-La. The Suns had forced a miss, secured the ball and were pushing it up court when a foul was called, retroactive to the shot attempt. If it turns out that Donaghy made this particular call — after having a couple of seconds to think about it — it will look very bad.

The Spurs were favored by four in Game 3 and won by seven, 108-101. They shot nine more free throws than the Suns, a perfectly reasonable gap between an interior-scoring team and a jump-shooting team. While the risk of fixing a playoff game is increased by the closer scrutiny of the game, it is easier to place large bets without setting off red flags because there's much more money being wagered on a playoff game than a regular season game.

If Donaghy is convicted of fixing any games over the last two seasons — during which the FBI was monitoring his games — how will Stern, who must have precious little credibility in Phoenix, ever convince Suns fans that they weren't the victims of a fix? I mean, besides the one he himself sanctioned after Game 4. (And if it turns out Donaghy did conspire to fix Game 3, how happy will Suns fans be with the FBI for allowing their team to be an unwitting victim in a two-year-old sting operation?)

For years Stern has been dismissing the cries of conspiracy theorists and fining anyone who dared open his mouth about the officiating. He even went so far as to threaten to throw Jeff Van Gundy out of the league.

If during a criminal court proceeding it comes to light that Donaghy was influencing the outcome of games, is Stern prepared to return any fine money levied against a player, coach or owner who criticized what turned out to be crooked officiating?

Former Orlando Magic coach Brian Hill was fined $25,000 after complaining bitterly about the officiating in a game Donaghy did on March 6, 2006.

Stern could conceivably return that fine money if it turns out Donaghy was in the bag. But what if evidence emerges that Donaghy had money on the Spurs in Game 3?

If that's the case, Stern's refusal to adjudicate the Horry-Stoudemire-Diaw non-fight fairly will have compounded a criminal act. How could he ever make things right in Phoenix?

He might start by awarding Phoenix, one of the finalists, the 2009 All-Star Game. But would he dare show up?

Suns fans may still be grieving."

Dr. William Petit Jr.'s wife Jennifer Hawke-Petit and 2 daughters, Hayley and Michaela, were Murdered!

Not an opinion piece, just thought many of you might want to read this story by CNN.com

"CHESHIRE, Connecticut (AP) -- At least two men broke into a prominent doctor's home early Monday, kidnapped a female family member to withdraw money from a bank and then killed his wife and their two daughters, police said.

Dr. William Petit Jr., who was severely injured, told police his family had been held hostage for hours before one member, who was not identified, was taken to the bank with a suspect.

Bank employees were suspicious of the transaction and called police, who surrounded Petit's home, authorities said.

A town police officer saw two men leaving the home as it was engulfed in flames, authorities said. The men sped away in a station wagon, striking several police cruisers before they were captured.

Petit's wife, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, and their two daughters, Hayley and Michaela, were found dead in the home, said a law enforcement official with firsthand knowledge of the investigation.

The official confirmed the deaths on the condition of anonymity because autopsy results were still pending.

Authorities would not release the names of the suspects. The two men are due Tuesday in Meriden Superior Court.

Petit, 50, a well-known diabetes specialist, was in stable condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, though it was not released how he was injured.

"It is a shocking day for everyone. It's just beyond anyone's understanding," said Larry Tanner, president and chief executive officer of The Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Petit is the medical director of the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. His wife of 22 years worked at the Cheshire Academy, a boarding school as co-director of its health center.

Their upper-middle class neighborhood includes Colonial homes with well-kept lawns in the New Haven suburb.

Neighbor Walter Ryan was walking his dog when he saw the flames coming from the home and then watched as police, with guns drawn, moved through yards and shouted, "'Get out of the car!"'

The Rev. Ronald A. Rising, a neighbor, said he has known the family for more than 10 years.

"They're just a lovely family," he said. "It's just awful to think it would happen to a family like that in this community. You don't think about those things happening."

Neighbor Laura Parisi, a friend of the Petits' older daughter, Hayley, said the 17-year-old had just graduated from the prestigious Miss Porter's School in Farmington and was accepted at Dartmouth.

"It's just insane," Parisi said of the deaths. "I can't even describe it.""

Drew Carey will host "The Price is Right!"

I am not a huge fan of "The Price is Right," but I do admit that I watch it from time to time and it will be very strange seeing a new face host the epic show! I am not sure what I think of Drew Carey being hired to host the show. I thought he was an average host of "Who's Line is it Anyways," and in that show he really didn't have to do much but sit behind his desk.

However, he is a very funy commedian, and very well could end up being a very good addition to the show! Carey made it official by announcing his intentions on David Letterman,

"I realize what a big responsibility this is, It's only a game show, but it's the longest-running game show in American television and I plan to keep it that way," he said.

I was thinking that it would be weird to see someone so young on that stage, after watching Bob drag around the past few years, but I was very surprised to read that Carey is 49 years old, and he seems to have aged a lot since I last saw him on television. I am not saying that 49 is old, but he looks nothing like he did while on his show. I guess more time has passed than I thought.

Drew Carey will host

NEW YORK (AP) -- Genial comic Drew Carey was tapped Monday to replace silver-haired legend Bob Barker on the CBS daytime game show "The Price is Right."
art.carey.gi.jpg

Comedian Drew Carey will soon host the longest-running game show in American television.

The deal was set Monday afternoon shortly before a taping of CBS' "Late Show" with David Letterman, where he confirmed it.

"I realize what a big responsibility this is," he said. "It's only a game show, but it's the longest-running game show in American television and I plan to keep it that way."

The selection attracted more attention than usual for a daytime show because of the prospect of replacing Barker, 83. Barker retired after 35 years in the job last month following taping of his 6,586th episode.

The opening attracted widespread interest, including from comic Rosie O'Donnell after she left "The View."

Carey, 49, spent a decade on his own ABC sitcom and also was host of the improvisational game show "Whose Line is It Anyway?"

He will also be host of a new CBS prime-time game show, "The Power of 10," that airs next month. He told The Associated Press on Monday that CBS officials first contacted him about "The Price is Right" immediately after he completed a pilot of the other game show this spring.
Don't Miss

"My agent called me and said `I was talking to CBS casting today' and in my head I was thinking, `Oh, `CSI' guest star?' And he said what would you think about replacing Bob Barker on `The Price is Right?"'

Asked if he found the prospect of replacing such a TV legend daunting, Carey recalled talking to a friend who knows the game show business who told him, "as long as Bob Barker is cool with it, the fans will be cool with it."

"I'm cool with it," Barker said after hearing Carey's remarks.

Barker said he's not familiar enough with Carey's past performances to offer an opinion on his selection. But, he said, "I understand he ad-libs very well and that he has a very nice, friendly way of working, and I think both of those would be helpful to him on`The Price Is Right."'

His advice for Carey: "Go out there and do that show the way you think it should be done. Don't imitate me and don't imitate anyone else."

While Carey said he doesn't know Barker personally, the comedian said he was comfortable that his predecessor would be accepting when he took on the job.

The negotiation process was nerve-racking. While he was talking with CBS about the job, Carey said he got a call from another lawyer in Hollywood who told him one of his clients was offered "The Price is Right" job.

He figured CBS had lined up back-ups if the first choice did not come through.

"If I was going after a second baseman, I wouldn't just talk to one second baseman," the Cleveland Indians fan said. "If I were the general manager, I would be talking to a few second basemen."

Cindy Sheehan arrested for disorderly conduct!!!

I love that our country allows people to speak their minds and does not have laws against speaking out. However, Cindy Sheehan is taking this free speech to a new level, even threatening to run against Nancy Pelosi over the issue of impeaching President Bush!

"The Democrats will not hold this administration accountable, so we have to hold the Democrats accountable," Sheehan said outside Conyers' office after the meeting. "And I for one am going to step up to the plate and run against Nancy Pelosi."

Hey Cindy, what will your platform be called, "CRAZY?"!?!?!

We all hate that innocent people have died in the war and there are a lot of people who would like to see us come home, but do you honestly think President Bush sent us to Iraq just to kill our young men and make money? Our country made a decision to try and help the country of Iraq. There have been a lot of mistakes, but there has been a lot of positives too. There has been steady improvement (by reports) in Iraq, and it is expected that the report that comes out in September will report a great improvement since the last report. War is not pretty, and it is not bloodshed free. When we went to war, we knew we would have innocent people lose their lives, like Cindy Sheehan's son. BUT, those that enlisted in the military knew that they were signing up for a dangerous job. Cindy, you are doing a disgrace to your sons name, by acting like this! He fought and died trying to help another country, he would be embarrassed to see you now! Speak out if you must, but you are only embarrassing yourself, even if you don't know it!

NBA Ref, Tim Donaghy, under investigation for betting on games!

"The FBI is investigating allegations that veteran NBA referee Tim Donaghy bet on basketball games over the past two seasons, including ones in which he officiated."

As a die hard NBA fan, I was really upset to see this article on Friday. I know that there are a lot of NBA fans and non-fans that are always criticizing the NBA and saying how they think it is rigged. The first thought that comes into my head is the 2005-2006 NBA Finals and all of the speculation that the calls that D Wade got were planned, to help the Heat win. Now, I am a Mavs fan, but I am not one of the fans that blammed anyone for rigging games! Yes, there were some fishy calls, but I can't bare to think there are actually rigged games...

SO, it really felt like a punch in the gut when I read this news. Not only did he possibly bet on games, he bet on games that he refed in! I don't want to count him guilty, but it is pretty suspicious that he quit the NBA and is already selling his home. There is even speculation that the Mob was involved.

I have a feeling it is true, but as an NBA fan, I REALLY hope it isn't!

Tammy Faye Messner Baker Dies of inoperable cancer

I don't know if anyone else had the opportunity to watch Larry King's interview with Tammy Faye Messner Baker on Thursday, but I did and was very surprised by what I saw. I could not believe how thin she was and yet, she had a great outlook and was still her positive self. I was very inspired by her interview. Then, I wake up this morning and hear that just a day after her interview with Larry King, Tammy Faye Messner Baker passed away Friday morning. It was not released until Saturday, as the former televangelist's family asked Larry King to delay the announcement. My prayers are with her and her family.

Lindsay Lindsey Lohan turns herself in for driving drunk (hit and run)

Nothing to say on this one, just thought many of you would like to read this story, since we seemed to be obbessed with celebrity news:

"BEVERLY HILLS, California (AP) -- Lindsay Lohan turned herself in to face charges of driving under the influence in connection with the Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash that sent her into rehab.

Lindsay Lohan was fingerprinted and photographed and released on her own recognizance.

Accompanied by her attorney, the 21-year-old actress surrendered at the Beverly Hills Police Department Thursday afternoon to be fingerprinted and photographed, Officer Brian Ballieweg said.

Lohan's blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was above California's 0.08 percent legal limit, Ballieweg said. He wouldn't disclose how high it was. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of hit and run, he said.

Lohan was released on her recognizance. A court date was scheduled for August 24.

A message left early Friday with her publicist was not immediately returned.

Lohan and two other adults were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible when she lost control and crashed into a curb and shrubs on Sunset Boulevard on May 26, police said.

Lohan got into a second car and was driven to a hospital in Century City for minor injuries, police said. The others in her car were not hurt.

Officers received a 911 call about the accident and traced her to the hospital.

Last week, Lohan checked out of a rehabilitation center after more than six weeks. It was her second stint in rehab this year. She said in January she had checked into rehab for substance abuse treatment."

President George W Bush's colon is in the news?

I just thought this story was funny. Not funny that President Bush had polyps that could have been cancerous, but that the media would put it in the news. I know when you take office you can expect to have your life displayed like an open book, but come on! I would be really embarrassed!

Here is the full story for those who want to read it:

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Doctors removed five small polyps from President Bush's colon on Saturday, and "none appeared worrisome," a White House spokesman said.

President Bush and Chief of Staff Josh Bolten walk at Camp David, Maryland, on Saturday.

The polyps were removed and sent to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, for routine microscopic examination, spokesman Scott Stanzel said. Results are expected in two to three days.

All were small, less than a centimeter [half an inch] in diameter, he said.

Bush is in good humor, Stanzel said, and will resume his activities at Camp David.

During the procedure Vice President Dick Cheney assumed presidential power. Bush reclaimed presidential power at 9:21 a.m. after about two hours.

Doctors used "monitored anesthesia care," Stanzel said, so the president was asleep, but not as deeply unconscious as with a true general anesthetic.

He spoke to first lady Laura Bush -- who is in Midland, Texas, celebrating her mother's birthday -- before and after the procedure, Stanzel said.

Afterward, the president played with his Scottish terriers, Barney and Miss Beazley, Stanzel said. He planned to have lunch at Camp David and have briefings with National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten, and planned to take a bicycle ride Saturday afternoon.

Cheney, meanwhile, spent the morning at his home on Maryland's eastern shore, reading and playing with his dogs, Stanzel said. Nothing occurred that required him to take official action as president before Bush reclaimed presidential power.

The procedure was supervised by Dr. Richard Tubb, Bush's physician, and conducted by a multidisciplinary team from the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, the White House said.

Bush's last colonoscopy was in June 2002, and no abnormalities were found, White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

The president's doctor had recommended a repeat procedure in about five years.

A colonoscopy is the most sensitive test for colon cancer, rectal cancer and polyps, small clumps of cells that can become cancerous, according to the Mayo Clinic. Small polyps may be removed during the procedure.

Snow said on Friday that Bush had polyps removed during colonoscopies before becoming president."

Gotta Give some shout outs!

Today I got tagged in a post, by none other than The BenSpark! I had never been tagged for one of these "Meme's" before, so I really had to read exactly what it was all about. It seems like a great way to help promote some of your friends sites, as well as create some linkback opportunities (and higher your PR) for yourself and friends! If you got tagged by me in the list below, please write a short post linking to me, copy and paste the below rules into your post, add the 8 things about yourself (like I did below), add the 8 people's names that you want to tag, and then write them letting them know you tagged them and that they should follow the instructions below (just like you are going to be doing:)). Let me know if you have any questions!

First the *8 things Meme* If you got tagged by me for this then copy the rules that are in bold.

The Rules: “Each person links to the person who tagged them. Then each person posts the rules before their list, then they list 8 things about themselves. At the end of the post, that person tags and links to 8 other people and then visits those peoples’ sites and comments letting them know that they have been tagged, and to come read the post, so they know what they have to do.”

Here are 8 things about me.
1. My favorite thing in the world is to spend time with my beautiful wife!
2. I am obsessed with the Dallas Mavericks!
3. I collect sports memorabilia. This includes photos, autographs, etc.
4. I have become addicted to blogging
5. I miss living closer to my family
6. I love working in Higher Education
7. I will be starting my masters in September
8. I will be a daddy in October!

So for this I will tag 8 people.

Sniper David Munis shot and killed himself!

I have already spoken on this story, but since so many people are visiting my site to read about the story, I thought I would include this article from MSN.com about David Munis killing himself. Very sad, 2 lives lost in this tragedy!

"LARAMIE, Wyo. - A military sharpshooter accused of killing his estranged wife as she sang at a bar died Tuesday night after being found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

Wyoming Army National Guardsman David Munis was found by a search team at about 7:45 p.m. after police received an anonymous call from a man who spotted Munis at a small camping trailer in a remote area about 15 miles north of Laramie and about five miles outside the search area, Albany County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Garcia said.

He had shot himself in the chest with a high-power rifle, Garcia said.

Munis, 36, was flown to a hospital and pronounced dead at 8:01 p.m., Garcia said.

“I’m glad it’s over,” the Laramie Boomerang quoted Garcia as saying. “The people in the community can now feel at rest, and the people in Roger’s Canyon can feel more at ease.”"

Atlanta Falcons, NFL star Michael Vick, INDICTED by federal grand jury on dogfighting charges!

I have been able to follow this story, somewhat, over the past months but was under the impression it was not going to be easy to indict Michael Vick, and probably wouldn't happen. So, this news really surprised me, maybe our legal system is learning something from the Paris Hilton case, and holding the famous accountable for their actions better than in the past... I knew they found a lot of dogfighting evidence at Vick's home, but according to the indictment, they even know the name of the operation, which as "Bad Newz Kennels." Of course, it is important to note that Michael Vick has not been found guilty, as an NFL spokesperson pointed out, "The activities alleged are cruel, degrading and illegal. Michael Vick's guilt has not yet been proven, and we believe that all concerned should allow the legal process to determine the facts."

I knew some of the stuff they found on Vick's property was horrible, but I had no idea they were this bad. "About eight young dogs were put to death at the Surry County home after they were found not ready to fight in April 2007, the indictment said. They were killed "by hanging, shooting, drowning and/or slamming at least one dog's body to the ground." Even John Goodwin of the Humane Society, who sees this type of thing happen a lot, said the manner in which losing or unwilling dogs were killed was especially troubling.

"Some of the grisly details in these filings shocked even me, and I'm a person who faces this stuff every day," he said. "I was surprised to see that they were killing dogs by hanging them and one dog was killed by slamming it to the ground. Those are extremely violent methods of execution -- they're unnecessary and just sick."

"If convicted, Vick and the other three guys, Purnell A. Peace, Quanis L. Phillips and Tony Taylor, could face up to six years in prison, $350,000 in fines and restitution."

I really hope the truth comes out in all of this, and whoever is responsible, gets the maximum punishment for this! I have read a lot about dogfighting before, but this seems to be one of the worst cases I have heard of in some time!

BREAKING NEWS: Yi Jianlian will NOT play for the Milwaukee Bucks, says Chinese team!

Just hours after I wrote about my first impressions of Yi Jianlian in a post, I read this story on ESPN.com!

The Beijing, China news reported that Guangdong Tigers chief, Chen Haitao, has said that Yi Jianlian will "definitely not" play for the Milwaukee Bucks! He went on to say that "This is not, as media reports have said, because Milwaukee, as a city with very few Chinese people, is not good for Yi's commercial development. Rather we want to find a team suitable for Yi's growth. That's the root of the problem." Chen later said, "The national team and the Olympic Games are now our key considerations ... If Yi Jianlian goes to a team where he can't compete, that would be being irresponsible to the national team."... haha

What is this guy talking about? I watched the Chinese National team get WHOOPED by a bunch of 3rd and 4th string Summer League players! Does this guy really think keeping him in China will help him? Playing against the Bucks players in practice all season, would be better competition than he will get if the other teams he will play against look as bad as their national team did. Ya Ya, they didn't have Yao, but they got schooled by summer league teams AND our US under 19 years of age team!

They are simply making excuses the have him moved to another team... I say NBA teams just say, "forget about him!"... there are plenty of other good players out there.. I know the Bucks will get screwed, but if I were a team owner, I wouldn't want a guy on my team that will constantly have pressure put on me and my organization!

Yi Jianlian, Milwaukee Bucks number 6 pick, a flop, or a star?

About 2 weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go watch the Dallas Mavericks summer league team play the Chinese National Team. I went to the game in hopes that I might see some of this talent I had heard so much about, before and during the NBA Draft. I definitely got to see a display of offensive output, but it was NOT by Yi Jianlian, but rather by Wang Zhi Zhi, who had 27 points!! (This is where I contemplated switching this post to focus on Wang and ask my readers, "WHERE THE HECK WAS THAT OFFENSE WHEN HE WAS IN THE NBA?"..) While I am NOT saying Yi Jianlian will not turn out to be a very good player, I CAN say that he was not impressive at all, against the Dallas Mavericks summer league team!

We arrived a couple hours early to the game, so we could get some good court side seats, which was well worth it, as we had a great view of all the action. There were Chinese flags everywhere, and they clearly wanted to see this amazing player, YI, as that they had all been hearing about. Well, they all got to see him play, but it was not all it was cracked up to be. My initial impressions of Yi Jianlian are that he is that he did not appear to be nearly as quick as some scouts have led on, and that he is going to have to get much tougher, to play in the NBA.

First impression: HE NEEDS TO GET QUICKER! All of the scouting reports I have read are that he is quick, but he really struggled to get any sort of open shot off the dribble, against the Mavs summer league team. Mind you, he was guarded by Pops Mensah-Bonsu, who is very quick, but I just expected more.

Below, I have added 2 clips, just so you can see exactly what I mean. In the first one you can see Yi Jianlian face Pops up and try to fake him out and do a little fade away... What happens? POPS SWATS THE CRAP OUT OF HIM! In the second video you can see Yi Jianlian try and take it at Pops again, and again can not get around him so he settles for a baseline jumper, only to clang it on the side of the backboard. I know these are only two plays out the entire game, but these were NOT the only plays that Yi Jianlian had like this. In fact, most of his possessions ended up similar to these. I thought this might have just been a "bad game," but it turns out he played much like this during his first summer league camp, with Milwaukee Bucks, as well. One NBA expert pointed out, "he's going to have an adjustment period figuring out how he'll get his shots; he made just 25 percent of them in Vegas."

POPS SWATTING THE CRAP OUT OF YI JIANLIAN IN SUMMER LEAGUE!

YI JIANLIAN TRIES TO USE SOME NIFTY FOOTWORK AND SPIN MOVE, AND EVENTUALLY SETTLES FOR AN UGLY FADE AWAY SHOT THAT HITS NOTHING BUT... THE SIDE OF THE BACKBOARD!

So, you want to know why I think Yi Jianlian is soft? There were many plays where Yi got pushed around... Not only under the hoop, but even on the perimeter. I am not going to spend much time on this topic, as it is not that surprising that he is going to need to bulk up and most of all, toughen up. I have added 1 play in particular that REALLY shows his softness. If you watch closely, you can see Mo Ager's left hand come around Yi's stomach area, but for him to have gotten hurt on this play really shows he needs to toughen up!

YI JIANLIAN BARELY GETS TOUCHED AND HAS THE WIND KNOCKED OUT OF HIM!

I was honestly hoping that we would all be treated to a show by Yi, but that didn't happen. He will need to get much tougher, gain quickness, and learn the NBA game. I am not one that likes to see guys get drafted and then flop, so I truly hope to see him improve and prove that all of these initial impressions wrong!

Alonzo Mourning will be back for 1 more year with Miami Heat, then Retire

I know, as a Dallas Mavericks fan, I have very little room to talk about choking in this years playoffs.. HOWEVER, I don't think the Miami Heats situation and the Dallas Mavericks situation is the same.. I could argue all day about Dallas exiting in the first round, but I want to touch on Mourning's decision to return for 1 final year, and try to leave the Mavs out of this one..

I haven't quite decided if I think this is a good decision for Mourning or not. I mean, he is still good, but the fact that he has said this will FOR SURE be his last year, just makes this a strange decision, in my opinion. Mourning was quoted as saying,

"I want to redeem myself and try to help this team redeem ourselves as an organization and try to get back on track," Mourning said. "That wasn't the Miami team you saw in the playoffs last year. ... I was embarrassed. I was truly embarrassed by that outcome. I know for a fact we're a better team. It left a sour taste in my mouth and it's time to really end it all on the right note."

I don't really know what he has to redeem himself from? He has a title, his reputation was not ruined by exiting in the first round, and the Miami Heat will NOT be back in the finals any time soon! Him coming back will not help them get back to the finals. Sure, they have Wade, but other than that you have an aging Shaq, Walker, Williams, and now Mourning... Not to mention they are now without key backups in Posey (most likely), Kapono, and Payton.

In my opinion, if Alonzo Mourning is ONLY coming back to try to make up for this years playoff exit, he SHOULDN'T!!! It will likely only get worse unless they get younger players around Wade! Walk away before it gets worse next season!

Singer Robin Munis, shot in head sniper style by husband David Munis!

My thoughts on this story are below, but here are some links to the actual news articles in case you would rather just read the story:

CNN's Story
MSN Story of Sharpshooter's Suicide

Wow, creepy! How would you like to be sitting in the middle of a concert and all of a sudden the singer, you are watching so closely, gets shot right in the head? Well, that is exactly what happened in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Saturday, July 14th! Singer, Robin Munis, was shot by David Munis, her estranged husband (He is the main suspect, but clearly they don't know FOR SURE.. I must add this because while the guy is a trained sniper, his car was found abandoned, and he is on the run, some people would like me to make sure I point out he hasn't been proven guilty yet, which is true)! David Munis shot from outside of the Old Chicago restaurant / bar, so no one saw him shoot, but they did see him hanging around the bar earlier in the evening.

Police are saying, "We are working solely on him being the suspect, he is very dangerous."

"David Munis, 36, is a second lieutenant in the Wyoming Army National Guard who is attached to the guard's training camp, according to guard spokeswoman Deidre Forster. Schulz said Munis received sniper training from the military, but Forster said she didn't know whether he did or not"

Stack is Back ... Mark Cuban resigns Jerry Stackhouse for the Dallas Mavericks!

YES! I am very glad to see Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks bring back Jerry Stackhouse! He really gives them a good scoring punch off the bench, and the attitude they need! Here is an article about why he is coming back. I figured some of you that may not live in the Dallas area may want to read it.

Jerry Stackhouse is coming back!

Who will Mark Cuban bring in to complete the Dallas Mavericks roster?

I am hoping that the Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban in particular, open up the pocket books and bring in someone like Chris Webber or P.J. Brown! I know they are both older, but they can both play defense (especially P.J. Brown), rebound, score, and pass. When we play teams that are more athletic, it would be great to have a big guy who can come in and play with dirk that is more athletic. It really hurt us to have to play George and other guards at the forward/center spot!

Keep posted as I will definitely have more information as it progresses!

Thoughts on Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks summer league team

So, the big story, as everyone knows, is that Mark Cuban has shown major interest in buying the Chicago Cubs. However, that is not what I am most interested in. As a Dallas Mavericks fan, I am more interested in how my team is looking for next season. Right now, we are looking very good... but then again, I would have said that at the beginning of last season and all the way through last years regular season too.

Since I live in Dallas, I had the opportunity to go watch the Dallas Mavericks summer league team play last Tuesday. It was a lot of fun, especially since it only cost 5 dollars. They happened to be playing the Chinese National team, which included YI!!!! The #6 pick in this years NBA Draft (side note: I will be having a post, very soon, on how DISAPPOINTED I was in Yi's game!!!)... Our rookies looked like rookies, for the most park, but we did have some major bright spots.. Don't let this sound like I am getting my hopes up, I know this is called summer league for a reason.

I mainly wanted to go and see 2 of our rookies, Nick Fazekas, Reyshawn Terry, and also Maurice "Mo" Ager, Jose Juan "JJ" Barea, and Pops Mensah-Bonsu. I honestly think that Maurice Ager will get some playing time this year. During the playoffs (all ONE round of it), Mo got some playing time and showed some glimpses of greatness. He played very well, getting to the hoop at will, and is a pretty darn good defender. JJ was his regular "ball of energy" and then there was Pops. He is undersized, skinny, but MAN can he jump! He makes up for his lack of bulk by being very cut and can jump out of the gym.. He ended with 24 points and a ton of rebounds. Not to mention, he has a very good FT shot for a PF. He even stepped out and guarded some smaller guys on the perimeter (we sure could have used an athletic defender like that in the playoffs this year).

Overall it was a great time and it was exciting to see some of our younger guys get some minutes.

Amy Palumbo, Miss New Jersey, Update!

So, if anyone read my blog yesterday, you know I had my thoughts on the whole Miss New Jersey, Amy Palumbo, story. Well, as always, I love to hear your comments... and as always, there are some people who have no intelligent thoughts at all, and just want to be heard.. and of course, the comments are always anonymous...haha.. So, here is the comment I got, and my response:

Anonymous said...

"First of all, do you know anything about Facebook? Are you aware that people can post pictures of OTHERS while all the people in the picture may not be aware the pictures are posted publicly? Second of all, in this day and age, with technology the way it is, many people do not have control over what is written or posted about them. Nor are they often times aware. Just because she is Miss New Jersey doesn't mean she hasn't had a few lapses in judgment as a college student out with her friends. (AS WE CAN ALL PROBABLY RELATE TO). Give the girl a break, and find something better to blog about."

Josh said...

1) I have been on Facebook for 4 years, so yes I know how it works. From everything I have read, OTHERS were not the ones that posted the photos, Miss Palumbo posted them herself. Even if the reports are wrong, and Miss Palumbo didn't post them, she should have known there would be consequences for her actions. (see thought #3) (NO, this doesn't mean I think blackmail is appropriate, those at fault should be punished, as I mentioned in my original post.. BUT, I don't have a problem with the photos being released and her possibly getting in trouble)

2) DUH, people don't have control over what is said or posted about them, but that doesn't apply here since SHE posted the photos HERSELF! (If someone else posted them, there are still consequences for our actions.. see thought #3)

3) Are you saying that because "kids make mistakes" there should not be any consequences for those actions? Kids should just be able to say, "oh crap, I made a mistake" and then we should just respond by saying, "oh, it's ok, no consequences for you since you said sorry." I believe I mentioned that kids make mistakes in my post, but to use that as an excuse and a reason for someone to get out of trouble is plain stupid!

4) People who choose to be in the spotlight are held to different standards, whether they (or you) like it or not. She made the decision to be photographed in a negative manor and she posted those photos of herself (or someone else did) on Facebook. They do not represent her title in a positive light, and it is more than appropriate to bring it up in the news, blogs, etc.

5) Lastly: you said "find something better to blog about." Maybe you don't understand that giving my thoughts on popular news stories is apart of what I do on this blog. If you don't like it, then don't read it.

Mark Cuban interested in owning Chicago Cubs baseball team

AWESOME!!! So, as many of you know, I am a HUGE Dallas Mavericks fan and Mark Cuban fan, as can be seen by the below picture of me and my good friend Mark...haha.. ok, so he probably doesn't even remember taking that picture with me, but I thought I would try to act like we are best of friends..lol

Anyways, you can say all the bad things you want about him, but you can't deny how much he has done for the Dallas Mavericks! If you are sitting out there, and are a Cubs fan, you better be VERY excited about Mark Cuban wanting to buy your team! He will be a winner, no doubt! Watch out George and the Yankees! Mark Cuban will do whatever he has to win, so watch out!!!

Read the whole story from espn.com about Mark Cuban buying the cubs!

Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks Owner, Quotes! Great quotes by a Great business man!

"In business, one of the challenges is making sure that your product is the easiest to experience and complete a sale."
Mark Cuban

"It doesn’t matter how many times you fail. It doesn’t matter how many times you almost get it right. No one is going to know or care about your failures, and neither should you. All you have to do is learn from them and those around you because... All that matters in business is that you get it right once. Then everyone can tell you how lucky you are."
Mark Cuban

"Make your product easier to buy than your competition, or you will find your customers buying from them, not you."
Mark Cuban

"I didnt know I was mad about anything. I guess if the New York Times says I am, I must be."
Mark Cuban

"I take my biggest positions in stocks that are complementary to other things I am doing."
Mark Cuban

"I rarely think the market is right. I believe non dividend stocks aren’t much more than baseball cards. They are worth what you can convince someone to pay for it."
Mark Cuban

"The NBA (National Basketball Association) is never just a business. It’s always business. It’s always personal. All good businesses are personal. The best businesses are very personal."
Mark Cuban -

"Creating a close connection to those you do business with has its many risks, rewards and consequences. There are few things in business I have encountered that are more difficult than firing someone, particularly if that someone has always been, or has become a friend. On the flipside, I have been rewarded with many friends"
Mark Cuban

"If you don’t follow the stock market, you are missing some amazing drama."
Mark Cuban

I found the following quotes online, so I can't validate if Mark Cuban said all of these quotes, but they are very good!

Truck Driver, Bruce Mendenhall, Arrested for shooting death of Sara Nicole Hulbert. May be serial killer!

CREEPY!!! I doubt many of you heard about the case involving Sara Nicole Hulbert, but it was really sad. She was found dead in the parking lot of a Nashville, Tennesse, truck stop.

Police say Bruce Mendenhall implicated himself as a serial killer, when they questioned him. Specifically "implicating himself in six slayings in four states after Detective Sgt. Pat Postiglione discovered what appeared to be blood inside the cab of his rig, police said."

Natalee Holloway body is found!?

So, the news was saying, "ALERT: Important information!" which always gets my hopes up.. come to find out it was only about some stupid story that was published in Aruba that said someone had a tip of where Natalee's body was, but Natalee's parents wouldn't pay the money to get the tip... something both her parents deny. I'm pretty sure if someone offered that, they would have taken the offer..

anyways, I got my hopes up for nothing! I still hold hope they will find her body, but we will see....

Miss New Jersey, Amy Polumbo, blackmailed by embarassing Facebook photos

What a DUMB story! I mean, if this lady was DUMB enough to put the pictures on Facebook, then what does she think is going to happen? I know someone who participated in Miss Texas just a couple days ago, and there is NO way she would ever put inciminating pictures on Facebook. Amy Polumbo is NOT new to pageants and should have known better! I am NOT sticking up for blackmail, as I think whoever is doing it should go to jail. However, if Amy Polumbo, Miss New Jersey, had ANY brains at all, she wouldn't even be in this situation at all.

From what I have read, the pictures do not include nudity, they are just "un-ladylike", and include the following:

"one showing what Polumbo said was her boyfriend apparently biting her breast through her shirt, another of Polumbo in a limousine wearing jeans with her legs spread in the air, and another of her in what appears to be a Halloween costume dress holding two small pumpkins up to her breasts."

Instead of appologizing for the photos, Polumbo said, "I'm not a robot. I'm a human being." This is very true, but when you run for something like Miss New Jersey, don't you think you should watch yourself a little closer? Didn't you learn anything from President Bill Clinton?haha.. You are in the spotlight, so why would you EVER put those pictures online in the first place?

My last thought: I know teens do stupid things and make mistakes, but I question the ethics and morals of the Miss New Jersey Board members, who were quoted as saying that they were not a big problem and seemed to be of, "kids having a good time at a party."... I know kids party, but having guys bite your boobs, spreading your legs in the air with short shorts on, and being crude like that is not "just having fun." I would like to meet the children of the member who said this!

Lady Bird Johnson, President Lyndon Baines B. Johnson's wife, died wednesday at 94

I honestly had no idea that Lady Bird Johnson was still alive! 94 years is a long time to live without her husband. I don't know how many people would like to read about this story, but the details are below.

"Family, friends and admirers will all have a chance to say goodbye this weekend to Lady Bird Johnson, the widow of former President Lyndon Baines Johnson, who died Wednesday of natural causes at her home in Austin, Texas, a family spokesman said.

The former first lady, who was 94, spent her final days surrounded by friends and family members, who engaged in Bible reading and singing of hymns, said Neal Spelce, a longtime family friend and spokesman.

"It was the most peaceful death one could ever hope for," Spelce said. He noted that although Johnson could not speak since suffering a stroke in 2002, she managed to communicate well.

Johnson died as a Roman Catholic priest was administering last rites, Spelce said. Johnson was Episcopalian; the priest, the Rev. Bob Scott, had been summoned by Johnson's daughter Luci, who is Catholic, Spelce said. Video Watch the former first lady's life in retrospect »

Johnson was released from Seton Medical Center last month after being treated for a mild fever. Her death was unexpected, Spelce said.

Spelce said the former first lady will be buried Sunday at the Johnson family cemetery on the LBJ ranch in Stonewall, which now belongs to the National Park Service. She will lie in repose at the LBJ Library from 1:15 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday. Private funeral services will be held Saturday, along with a private graveside service Sunday.

Condolence books will be available for the public to sign at several locations throughout the Austin area, spokeswoman Elizabeth Christian said. Photo See photos from Lady Bird Johnson's life and career »

The family has received condolences from evangelist Billy Graham, former first lady Rosalynn Carter and many other dignitaries, Spelce said.

"Laura and I mourn the passing of our good friend, and a warm and gracious woman, Lady Bird Johnson," President Bush, a fellow Texan, said. "Those who were blessed to know her remember Mrs. Johnson's lively and charming personality, and our nation will always remember her with affection. Mrs. Johnson became first lady on a fateful day in November 1963 -- and was a steady, gentle presence for a mourning nation in the days that followed.

"President Johnson once called her a woman of 'ideals, principles, intelligence and refinement.' She remained so throughout their life together, and in the many years given to her afterward. She was much-loved in our home state of Texas, and the Bush family is fortunate to have known her."

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said: "Lady Bird Johnson embodied all that is beautiful and good about the great state of Texas. She inspired generations of Americans with her graceful strength, unwavering commitment to family and keen sense of social justice. Her unflagging efforts to beautify our highways and byways are a lasting legacy, through which our state will forever bear the unmistakable signature of a genuine Texan. We are proud to have known her and, like all Texans, are the better for it."

Another former first lady, Betty Ford, honored Johnson's commitment to the planet.

"Her beautification programs benefited the entire nation. She translated her love for the land and the environment into a lifetime of achievement," Ford said, according to the Associated Press.

Nancy Reagan called Johnson a courageous woman who served the nation and her family honorably, AP reported.

"I believe above all else that Lady Bird will always be remembered as a loyal and devoted wife, a loving and caring mother and a proud and nurturing grandmother," Reagan said, according to AP.

Former President Jimmy Carter honored her public service.

"Many people's lives are better today because she championed with enthusiasm civil rights and programs for children and the poor," Carter said. "During her husband's campaign for the presidency in 1964, she visited cities in the South considered too racially volatile for his presence. She was President Johnson's full partner in the War on Poverty, including convincing him to implement the Head Start program and serving as its honorary chair."

Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia served with Lyndon Johnson in the Senate in the 1950s.

"My heart is heavy with the news of Lady Bird's passing," Byrd said. "She was a woman of courtesy and courage alike. While her husband, Lyndon, could be brash, she was benevolent. While he could be tough and hard-charging, she epitomized style and grace. Together, they were a formidable pair.

"Erma and I were fortunate to share many memorable evenings with the Johnsons, first while they were part of the Senate family and later at the White House. It never mattered where the Johnsons lived, Lady Bird was always a Texas rose."

Michael Moore vs. Dr. Sanjay Gupta.. On health care! Does Michael Moore make anyone else "Sicko"?

Ok, first of all, let me say that I agree our health care system could use some help, and does appear to be "broken," but that doesn't mean getting universal health care! I have not heard one good thing about universal health care. On the surface, it seems great, but it does not end up being cheaper, as many facts have shown. It also means longer wait times, which many reports have also shown. Also, I am not a huge fan of Michael Moore, but I do believe he brings up some valid points in his films, I just believe they are very skewed to make a lasting impression.

I don't understand how Michael Moore can sit on any TV show and preach about "fudging facts," when his "documentaries" (which are NOT documentaries at all!) are totally based on fudging the facts! Does Moore present some good information, OF COURSE, but he goes into production with his own biases and he finds whatever information he can, or skews it, to fit into the direction he wants his film to go... This is NOT the definition of a documentary, at all.

When Moore would repeatedly say things like, "your facts are so skewed and wrong," I would have loved to see Dr. Sanjay Gupta respond by simply saying, "Mr. Moore, how can you, of all people, sit up here and accuse me of "skewing facts"?

While I wish Moore would present his facts accurately and abide by real journalism and documentary ethics, I do think his film "Sicko" does bring up some important issues. As a consumer, we just need to know the facts, rather than taking Mr. Moore at his word, or any reporter/journalist for that matter.

Part 1:

Part 2:

If you are interested in reading the article by CNN, I have included it below, for you to read:

"(CNN) -- Filmmaker Michael Moore, whose new documentary "Sicko" takes on America's health care system, faced off Tuesday with CNN chief medical correspondent and practicing neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Michael Moore and CNN's Sanjay Gupta argued Tuesday about Gupta's report on Moore's film "Sicko"

Moore criticized a report Gupta did on CNN Monday on "Sicko."

"He said the facts were fudged," Moore said, referring to Gupta, on CNN's "Larry King Live."

"That's a lie. None of the facts are fudged."

Moore and Gupta shouted and argued over data Gupta used and data Moore used. Moore said his staffers backed up the film's facts to Gupta before the report aired and that Gupta aired it knowing his facts were wrong.

Gupta disputed that.

"We try and look for some of the best sources we can possibly find," he said. "Michael has a lot of different numbers. ... You're sort of cherry-picking data from different reports."
Don't Miss

Both agreed, however, on the basic premise of "Sicko": Problems abound in America's health-care system and need to be fixed.

"I thought it was a good movie, and I wanted to say that," Gupta said. "I think it strikes at the irrefutable fact -- it's broken. We get it."

He praised Moore for raising awareness of the issue.

However, Gupta said he was concerned that the movie -- which notes that other developed nations such as France and Canada have universal health care --suggests that health care in those countries is free.

While patients may not pay for services at the doctor's office, they do pay high taxes to fund such a system, something Gupta said he was concerned that "Sicko" audiences might not realize.

Moore responded by saying Americans pay more in copays, deductibles and insurance premiums. "We [America] have a system built on profit," the moviemaker said.

He asked Gupta if the current system, which requires him to receive approval from an insurance company before performing some procedures, is cumbersome to him.

"It's a shameful system, especially when I'm dealing with some of my patients," Gupta said.

But he questioned Moore's apparent solution -- putting health care in the hands of the Bush administration, which Moore fiercely criticized in the past, particularly in his film "Fahrenheit 9/11."

"The government actually used to do things right," Moore said in response. "The problem is who we put in power."

Moore has adamantly opposed the war in Iraq and said the government should re prioritize -- a position he took many years before skepticism of the war's success abounded in Washington.

"I am sorry we've taken so much time trying to correct [Gupta's] facts here tonight instead of talking about the real issue" -- the ailing health care system, Moore said"

Dr. Bruce Kennedy, Michael Klemm of NASCAR crash plane into homes in Florida

CNN just reported a really sad story!

NASCAR loses 2 more of their own:(

"A small plane crashed into two homes Tuesday in Sanford, Florida, near Orlando, killing five people -- the pilot, his passenger, and three people inside the houses.

At least one of those killed was a small child, Sanford Fire Chief Gerard Ransom told reporters. It's possible another one of the victims was also a child, Seminole County Fire Chief Leeanna Raw said.

NASCAR said the pilot of the plane was Dr. Bruce Kennedy, husband of International Speedway Corp. President Lesa France Kennedy, the daughter of the longtime head of NASCAR, Bill France Jr., who died in June.

His passenger was Michael Klemm, a senior captain with NASCAR Aviation. NASCAR said they were the only two people on the plane."

The new Meade MySKY! Nothing else quite like it!

I don't know if any of you are interested in telescopes, but if you are, you really need to check out OpticsPlanet.net! I am not a huge telescopes junky, but I do think they are really cool!

One item that really stood out to me on their site was the new Meade MySKY! This is one of the newest gadgets from Meade, and allows you to see over 30,000 celestial objects with just a click of a button! Honestly, I had never heard of anything on the market quite like this.

MySKY is "a fun, interactive, hand-held, point-shoot-and-identify multimedia guide to our universe that will guide you through the night sky better than if you had your own private astronomer standing next to you." What could be better than that? Everyone enjoys seeing our gorgeous solar system and this will allow you to see the objects up-close, in person.. instead of just still photos on TV or in books!

While the new Meade MySKY really caught my attention, they have a TON more to offer, as well. Like the binoculars they offer, and did you know that OpticsPlanet.com is the leading online retailer with everything from telescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, night vision, and flashlights by Meade? Allen Iverson to pay $250,000 to Marlin Godfrey and David Anthony Kittrell for bodyguard beating

For you sports fans, this might be of interest. While Marlin Godfrey and David Anthoney Kittrell sued for 20 million dollars, I think they will be fine with walking away with 250,000 dollars! How crazy! I mean, maybe Jason Kane did beat him and he was probably drunk and deserved it, but 250,000 dollars is a LOT for "suffering."... what kind of suffering did he go through?haha.. I have seen a lot of fights but I don't remember them getting money like that..

I guess this teaches us that if we see someone with money, who has a bodyguard, we should provoke them into beating us..haha.. what is the point of a bodyguard if they can't defend their clients?

If you see me walking around with a million dollars, you know how I got it;)

Crazy news of the day! Astronaut Lisa Nowak denies attempted kidnapping

I know this story is kind of old, but the interview came out into the news today, where Lisa Nowak "Lisa Nowak told a detective she came to Orlando to meet her rival for the affections of a fellow astronaut because she wanted to know where she stood in the bizarre love triangle."

I don't have much comment on this, but I just think it is a CRAZY story! If you want to read more, check it out here

BIG OOPS for Louisiana Senator David Vitter, Republican. Says sorry for escort service from Deborah Jeane Palfrey, D.C. Madam!

OOOPS, big mistake for Senator David Vitter, Republican from Louisiana! Yup, you guessed it, his phone # was found among those associated with an escort service operated by Deborah Jeane Palfrey, a.k.a. the "D.C. Madam"

Senetor David Vitter did come out and apologize on Monday night for what he called a "a very serious sin in my past." Vitter went on to say, "....for which I am, of course, completely responsible. Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there -- with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

Vitter is a Republican in his first Senate term and was elected to the Senate in 2004. He represented Louisiana's 1st Congressional District in the House from 1999 to 2004.

"Vitter and his wife, Wendy Vitter, live in Metairie, Louisiana, with their four children"

National Hurricane Center Director William Bill Proenza leaves position!

"National Hurricane Center director Bill Proenza left his position Monday, just days after nearly half of the NHC staff signed a petition calling for his ouster.

Proenza is still employed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration -- a parent organization of the NHC -- but he is currently on leave, according to NOAA spokesman Anson Franklin.

Deputy Director Ed Rappaport has been temporarily placed in charge.

Proenza, 62, became the director in January after the retirement of Max Mayfield.

Proenza caused an uproar last month with comments about a key hurricane satellite called QuikSCAT. The satellite is five years beyond its life expectancy and operating on a backup transmitter. Proenza said if it were to fail, forecast tracks could be thrown off by as much as 16 percent.

He said Washington reprimanded him for the remarks: "They wanted me to be quiet about it."

But one of the center's longtime forecasters said Proenza's comments were misguided.

"QuikSCAT is another tool that we use to forecast," Lixion Avila said. "The forecast will not be degraded if we don't have the QuikSCAT."

Last week, the Commerce Department launched an unscheduled review of the hurricane center after word of the staff's dissatisfaction started to become public....."

I don't really have much opinion on this story, but I thought it was very interesting and thought many people would like to read it.

JonBenet suspect, John Mark Karr, arrested for battery!

John Mark Karr, the former suspect in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey was arrested again! But this time it was not in the JonBenet case. "He is charged with battery and obstruction of a 911 call, Lt. Keith Zgonc of the Sandy Springs police said."

Apparently, John Mark Karr and his girlfriend got into an argument at John's fathers home, and when his dad stepped in, the two (father and son) got physical... Why am I not surprised that this guy is living with his parents?!?haha.. Sorry, sidetracked.. anyways, "Karr was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital complaining of chest pain, Zgonc said."

Lt. Keith Zgonc said it was expected that Karr would be transported to Fulton County Jail later Saturday.

Has anyone seen this guys picture? He just creeped me out when they arrested him in the JonBenet case, and he still freaks me out!

Visit Thinking-OutLoud.com today! Great site!

My thoughts have come alive... this is what the site reads when you first get there. What a clever slogan to draw a reader in! I am not one that is easily drawn in, but that had me right away. The overall feel of Thinking Out Loud is soft and gentle. The page layout is gorgeous and unlike many blogs, it is very easy to navigate.. very user friendly, which I always like!

I know many of us like sites to be user friendly and easy on the eyes, but the meat and potatoes is the content.. is the content any good on this site? YES! While many blogs, even my own, have a problem with sticking with 1 thing (my crutch happens to be the news) and running with it, Thinking Out Loud has a variety of topics and you really feel like you learn something about the author of the blog, at the same time.

I would highly suggest visiting Thinking Out Loud, and taking a look for yourself!

Bilal Abdullah and now Mohammed Asha arrested, while Indian Doctor Mohammed Haneef is being questioned

CNN has more info on the bombing and air port crash last week.

"Bilal Abdullah, 27, arrested at Glasgow airport after the Jeep Cherokee he was riding in rammed into a terminal building, was charged Friday with conspiring to cause explosions, Scotland Yard said.

Seven other suspects remained in custody, including the alleged driver of the Jeep, hospitalized with severe burns.

Two of them had contacted a clearinghouse for foreign doctors about working in the United States, the FBI said Friday, and British officials probed links between the attacks and al-Qaeda in Iraq.
art.haneef.ap.jpg

Indian doctor Mohammed Haneef, though not charged, is being questioned in Australia.

An FBI spokeswoman said Mohammed Asha and another suspect had contacted the Philadelphia-based Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, as first reported in The Philadelphia Inquirer. Asha, a Jordanian physician of Palestinian heritage, contacted the agency within the last year, but apparently did not take the test for foreign medical school graduates, said the spokeswoman, Nancy O'Dowd....."
